✉ Julian Shipp (he/him/his) is a multi-instrumentalist performer and educator based in the San Francisco Bay Area.
Julian performs as an accompanist and with jazz ensembles
(e.g. The Midnight Moods, William Berg Quartet)
as well as maintaining a schedule teaching as a private music instructor and
as an Artist In Residence at Ruth Asawa School of the Arts, San Francisco Unified School District.

✉ Julian Shipp is available for hire as a music instructor, ensemble coach, and performer.

Since 2016, Julian has been offering private in-home and virtual lessons on Piano, Guitar, Bass Guitar, Ukulele, and Drums - teaching beginning and intermediate students as well as more advanced students interested in studying Jazz Piano. He teaches all ages (children as young as 5 and adults).
Since 2017, Julian’s been at Ruth Asawa School of the Arts as an Artist in Residence teaching and supporting vocal and instrumental curriculum (including musicianship).
In his career in music education, Julian has taught more than 200 students.

Julian studied under Ken Walker and Eric Gunnison at The Lamont School of Music in Denver before completing his music degree at San Francisco State University.
At San Francisco State University, he studied under Michael Zisman and Andrew Speight and in 2016 received a BA in music with an emphasis in Jazz Piano.
Julian continues to grow by pursuing lessons with other musicians. -
Julian began playing the Cello in third grade, and by middle school was the utility player in band, playing Alto and Baritone Saxophones, Tuba, and Clarinet. Moving to California in 2000, he joined his school musical as Tony in West Side Story and began seriously studying Guitar and Bass. Julian focused on Bass in high school at Drew College Prep.
